✨Welcome to 2025, Writes for Women Community✨
Changes, exciting guests and more writing support just for you!
Hello Lovely Writers!
I hope your week is going well.
If you’re receiving this it’s because you’re a member of the Writes4Women Community!
The first episode of the podcast for 2025 is out now. I had such an amazing time chatting to women’s empowerment and leadership entrepreneur Megan Dalla-Camina as we dived deep into The Writer’s Mind. If you haven’t had a chance to listen yet, be sure to set aside some time in your schedule. Megan is so inspiring!
There are a few changes happening on the podcast this year which I wanted to let you know about ...
📅 Episode Releases
The biggest change is that we are shifting to a fortnightly release. This is to avoid burnout for me, and to provide you with more time to listen. In the listener survey we did at the end of last year, half of the respondents said they would prefer fortnightly episodes, so we’ll see how it goes over the next few months. We can always go back to weekly!
⏳ Episode Length
I’m going to endeavour to keep the main (public) episode to 40-45 minutes. That way it’s not as huge a time commitment. But there will be a bonus 15 minutes for all paid Substack subscribers (that’s you!), so watch out for that starting with our next episode.
👩💼Episode Guests
One of the things that happens when you have a podcast platform is that publishers start sending you books (yay!) and pitching their authors as possible guests. Lovely, but with that comes an invisible kind of pressure and I’m conscious that at times the podcast has become a promotional tool. While I totally get that new authors or authors with new books need places to promote their releases, this wasn’t the main intention for Writes4Women. Our goal is to inspire, motivate and educate, so all future episodes will have those three things as their focus. We will still feature some new authors and new books but even in those episodes we’ll focus on writing craft, process and the writing life.
🎁 Subscriber Exclusives - ONLY $7 A MONTH
With the changes to the scheduling of the podcast we’re also tweaking the subscriber bonuses. As a paid subscriber you’ll receive:
A 15 minute subscriber-only extra for each episode release. The link to this will be in the Episode Takeaways Substack post that will go out each Saturday morning.
A fortnightly Diary of a (Novella) or whatever I happen to be working on where I’ll share my writing process, thoughts on writing and publishing and any other writing related topics. Rather than the smaller snippets I’ve been sending this will be a 20-30 minute video along with the transcript.
Seasonal Webinars (40-60 minutes) dealing with specific writing topics. These are the topics I’ve got pencilled in but if there’s anything you’d particularly like to know about I’m open to suggestions:
February – Opening Strong
April – Author Branding with Annie Bucknall
July – Getting Emotional: Building Emotion into Your Fiction
October – Dealing with Dialogue
Monthly Write-Ins – scheduled for different days and times, schedule from now until June*
Wednesday February 26, 10am
Monday March 17, 2pm
Saturday April 19, 4pm
Tuesday May 20, 8am
Monday June 16, 5.30pm
*Dates and times may be subject to change depending on my writing and teaching schedule, but I’ll give you as much notice as possible
The opportunity to add your name and website details to the Directory on the Writes4Women Substack Home Page
Additional random bonuses including What’ I’m Reading, analysis of book pages, surprise guest interviews
Your support of Writes4Women is helping celebrate women’s voices and support women writers. Remember we’re always happy to have your suggestions for topics and guests and we can’t wait to share our fabulous guest list for 2025 with you in the coming months.
Pam and Annie
Great podcasts. I listened to both of the Jan episodes on my drive to visit family today.
Loved Megan’s thoughts on procrastination!
So excited to listen to the latest podcast - honestly my OG go-to since I started writing!
