How’s your writing going?

Mine has been a little stop-start which is extremely frustrating as I have an end of February deadline for this novella, but I’m finally back on track!

Yesterday I hosted a small group of fabulous women writers for the 'Write Intentions 2025' workshop which was all about goal/intention setting, maintaining focus, using techniques like the Pomodoro method, and finding joy in the writing process. Practical tips like printing a visual calendar for habit tracking, setting boundaries for uninterrupted writing time, and finding an accountability partner were also part of our discussion.

So I thought I’d share a few of the highlights from the workshop for my paid subscribers.

Here’s a little outline of what I chat about in the video:

00:00 Multitasking

00:29 Workshop Recap: Setting Intentions and Goals

01:27 The Power of Free Writing

02:52 Organising and Prioritising Goals

03:35 Breaking Down Writing Goals

05:43 Creating Writing Habits and Accountability

09:35 Finding Joy in Writing

I love this quote from Jennifer Weiner, shared by maggiesmithwrites on instagram. I’m printing it out and putting it on my wall along with two other signs; FOCUS and NO EXCUSES
