Each month I provide feedback on a subscriber excerpt in both written and video form. This month’s excerpt ‘A Plan for Ivy’ is one I’ve seen before in a previous version and it was so amazing to see the improvements the writer has made in this revision.

In the video attached for paid supporters I cover the use of suspense, imagery, and subtext while suggesting improvements such as adding clearer visuals and interiority (including in the opening line), tightening redundant phrasing, increasing sensory detail, differentiating character dialogue, aligning action beats with dialogue, clarifying timeline details, and strengthening tension.
